ABOUT ELISABETH BELSHER
Elisabeth is a former high school science teacher turned freelance illustrator living and working in Vancouver, British Columbia. Elisabeth grew up in the Lower Mainland and graduated from Simon Fraser University, after which she worked for the Vancouver School Board. She then moved to California, and after several years (and a lifetime of drawing), decided to take the plunge and switch careers. She now resides with her family in Greater Vancouver. Elisabeth recently completed a BFA in illustration at Emily Carr University of Art + Design, and was awarded the Governor General's Academic Medal for achieving the highest academic standing in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program.
Elisabeth works primarily in traditional media such as ink and watercolour. Her art is reminiscent of Golden Age children's book illustration, and is defined by its sensitivity and precision. Her interests are divided between storytelling and nonfiction. She is currently working on a series of illustrated science books for young readers.
